Success Stories
Multi-Sensory Literacy
Through a partnership with the Bryant-Crane Foundation, Ms. Jacqueline Mars, William Prime Trust, and other private donors, over $160,000 was raised to provide FCPS educators with literacy professional development. More than 100 teachers were trained from 2019-2022, including a virtual session in 2020. This initiative enabled teachers to receive week-long instruction in multi-sensory learning methods to better support diverse classroom needs.
Outdoor Lab at Fauquier High School
After receiving a $96,000 grant from the PATH Foundation, FEF used the funds for Fauquier High School’s Outdoor Lab—the building and the surrounding grounds—to receive a much-needed facelift in 2016. This included constructing a deck; shoring up the joists beneath the building; removing a wall to open up space for computer stations, conference tables, and fish tanks; replacing all the windows; and staining and waxing the floors and painting the walls. Outdoors, the paths around the pond were cleaned up, and a small footbridge was installed. The Outdoor Lab continues to be used by students from many schools within Fauquier County Public Schools.
STEM Summer Camps
Dominion Power provided FEF with a $5,000 grant to support the school division’s Solar Energy STEM summer camps in 2016. Students learned about solar power and built a solar-powered device of their own to take home. The project aligned with the Foundation’s goal of providing experiences that motivate students, offering rigorous and technologically enhanced challenges, and inspiring creative, critical, and analytical thinking. The Foundation provided additional funds to these camps through 2019.
FEF’s impact is made possible by generous donors, community partners, and dedicated educators. With your support, we can continue to fund innovative programs, provide critical professional development, and enhance learning opportunities for students and teachers across Fauquier County Public Schools.
